We're Changing the World
If you are like us, you are tired of the current state of the software engineering industry. In fact, things have gotten a little ridiculous. Every size and shape of silver bullet is being peddled out there, especially in the "Agile" space. Yet train wrecks continue to happen, even when Lean and Agile principles, mindset and practices have long been mainstream. Why is that? Why is it that the first line of the Agile Manifesto has been totally overlooked by the vast majority of certification schemes, communities, frameworks and so-called "thought leaders". The first line of that political document states "We have come to understand a better way to develop software - by doing it and teaching others to do it. As in, it is all about the craft and the technology. Not the endless the roles. Not the artifacts. Not the ceremonies. It's supposed to be about efficiency and effectiveness of delivering technology to economic buyers. Sadly, it has long morphed into a rabbit hole of sociology, psychology, self-help programs, trade-unionist sentiment, you get the idea.
You are empathetic towards the firms that must deliver results to their shareholders. It is just the reality of the system we live in and the laws that govern our society.
At the very core of a firms value streams, their ability to compete, to disrupt or be disrupted - is a firms capability to engineer large and complicated softeware systems. It is table stakes for today's economic reality.
Being ethical, you are tired of all the negligence and profiteering out there despite all the Agile stuff prescribed above. You definitely understand the science of why certain principles work in practice, like iteration, collaboration and socio-technical systems, tacit knowledge extraction, frequent integration and the benefits of automation to defect injection. Yet you also understand that ways-of-working and various forms of sub-optimization and waste depends on your current way-of-working, and that when this status quo is radically disrupted, major opportunities present themselves. This is what the combination of Declarative AI and Generative AI offers to early adopters and the promise of HyperAgility.
